Here Steel Weight Caution = Area of Bars X Length of Bar X Density of Steel
For, Square Shape
Weight of Steel Bar = Area of Bars X Height of Bar X Density of Steel
Area of Bars = Lenght X Width
Height of Bar = as per the required length
Density of Steel = 7850 kg/m3
Example, 10 mm Square Bar, Hight = 1 m.
Area of Bars = 10 x 10 = 100 mm = 100x 10-6 m2 (0.00010 m2)
Length of Bar = 1 m.
Weight of Steel Bar = Area of Bars X Length of Bar X Density of Steel
Weight of Steel Bar = (0.0001 m2) X 1 m. X 7850 kg/m3
Weight of Steel Bar (10 mm ) = 0.7850 kg per M.

How to Calculated Reinforcement Weight / Rebar Weight Calculator
Here Reinforcement Weight = Area of Reinforcement X Length of Reinforcement X Density of Reinforcement
Area of Reinforcement = (π/4) x d2
Length of Reinforcement = as per the required length
Density of Reinforcement / Unit Weight of Steel = 7850 kg/m3
Example, 10 mm dia of a Reinforcement, Lenght = 1 m.
Area of Reinforcement = (π/4) x 102 = 78.5 mm = 78.5 x 10-6 m2 (0.0000785 m2)
Length of Reinforcement = 1 m.
Weight of Reinforcement = Area of Reinforcement X Length of Reinforcement X Density of Reinforcement
Weight of Reinforcement = (0.0000785 m2) X 1 m. X 7850 kg/m3
Weight of Reinforcement (10 mm ) = 0.6163 kg Per M.

Steel Bar Calculation Formulas
For calculating the weight of bars and shapes made from steel, use this formula: Weight (lbs) = length (ft) x width (ft) x thickness (ft) x density (lb/ft^3).
Steel Bar Calculation Software

Steel Bar Calculation Methods
How to Calculate Weight of Steel Bars?
- Also Read: Estimation of Steel Reinforcement for slab, beam and column.
- Weight of steel Flat bar = (Length x width x thickness) x 7850.
- Example 1: Determine the unit weight of MS Flat bar of width 40mm and Thickness of 20mm.
- Weight of steel bar = Volume of steel Bar x Density of steel.
Steel Bar Length Calculation
Number of bars
- Space = Distance inside which bars should be placed = L – 2 x cover.
- So, number of bars = (L – 2 x cover) / c/c spacing of bars.
- Number of stirrups in a beam.
- = Length of beam – 2 x cover / c/c spacing of stirrups + 1.
Steel Bar Quantity Calculation
Steel quantity is calculated by multiplying the cross-section of steel with its total density which can be 7850 kg/m3. The total steel quantity per slab must be equal to the total amount of main steel and stirrup steels.
Area of Steel Formula
Measure the length and width, in inches, of the rectangular steel sheet. For example, the length might be 135 inches while the width is 50 inches. Multiply the length by the width to obtain the area of the steel in square inches.
Steel Bar Weight
The weight of a steel bar depends on its dimensions, specifically its length, width, and thickness. To calculate the weight of a steel bar, you need to know its density, which is typically measured in kilograms per cubic meter (kg/m³) or pounds per cubic inch (lbs/in³). The most common type of steel used in construction is carbon steel, which has an approximate density of 7,800 kg/m³ or 0.2836 lbs/in³.
How to Calculate Reinforcement Weight?
The weight of 1 meter is equal to the mathematical weight of a circle of the same diameter, and is calculated using a simple formula m = D * D * Pi / 4 * ro, where ro is the density of the material, in this case 7850 kg/m³, D is the nominal diameter.
How to Calculate Area of Steel Bar?
Multiply the length by the width to obtain the area of the steel in square inches. Now, for the example, you have 135 inches times 50 inches, or an area of 6,750 square inches. Divide the area by 144 to change to square feet, since 144 square inches equals one square foot.
How to Calculate Reinforcement?
With the length ( L ) and diameter ( d ) of the rebar, calculate the rebar volume using: (3.14 × d² / 4) × L . Multiply the volume by the material density. Now, you have the rebar weight.

If we put 1 meter length for each diameter of steel bar in the formula then we will get the unit weight.
6 mm ø bar = 6² x 1/162 = 0.222 kg/m.
8 mm ø bar = 8² x 1/162 = 0.395 kg/m.
10mm ø bar = 10² x 1/162 = 0.617 kg/m.
12mm ø bar = 12² x 1/162 = 0.888 kg/m.
16mm ø bar = 16² x 1/162 = 1.580 kg/m.
