One of the most popular outdoor activities in the summer is having a barbeque, or BBQ, with friends and family. It’s a time to enjoy delicious food, good company, and the warm weather.
As a mechanical engineer, I have always been fascinated with the design and functionality of various objects – so naturally, I’ve put some thought into the design of BBQs as well.
In this article, I will share my unique BBQ design ideas that bring both aesthetic appeal and practicality to the table.
1. Multi-Level Grilling Surface
The most common design for BBQ grills is a flat surface with grill grates, allowing for direct heat cooking. However, this limits the types of food that can be cooked as they all have to be placed on the same level.
To solve this issue, my BBQ design idea incorporates a multi-level grilling surface.
The main grilling area will still have the traditional grill grates, but there will also be movable shelves or racks that can be adjusted to different levels.
This allows for different types of food, such as vegetables or delicate seafood, to be cooked at the same time as meats, without worrying about them getting burnt.
2. Side Burner Station
One of the biggest challenges at a BBQ is finding space on the grill for side dishes, such as corn on the cob or baked potatoes. To address this issue, my BBQ design idea includes a built-in side burner station.
This station will have a separate burner and cooking surface for side dishes, keeping them at a safe distance from the main grill and freeing up space for more grilling.
This also means that side dishes can be prepared at the same time as the main course, making the cooking process more efficient.
3. Smokeless Technology
Traditional charcoal or wood-fired grills produce a lot of smoke, which can be bothersome for guests and may violate local laws in some areas.
My BBQ design idea incorporates smokeless technology to reduce the amount of smoke produced.
By using a fan and special vents, the smoke is pulled into a separate chamber and is burned off before exiting the grill, resulting in a cleaner grilling experience.
4. Rotisserie Attachment
Who doesn’t love a juicy rotisserie chicken? Instead of investing in a separate rotisserie or constantly rotating the meat manually, my BBQ design idea includes a built-in rotisserie attachment.
This attachment can be easily added to the grill and is powered by a small motor, allowing for evenly cooked and flavorful meats.
5. Compact and Portable Design
Many BBQs are bulky and take up a lot of space in the backyard, making them difficult to move around. My design idea features a more compact and portable BBQ, making it easier to transport it from one place to another.
The grill will have foldable legs and a compact design, making it ideal for outdoor picnics or camping trips.
Conclusion
In conclusion, there are countless possibilities when it comes to designing a BBQ area in your backyard. From rustic and traditional designs to modern and sleek options, there is something for every style and preference.
Incorporating some of the top 50 BBQ design ideas in your outdoor space will not only enhance the aesthetics but also create a functional and inviting area for entertaining and enjoying delicious meals with family and friends.
So why not take inspiration from these ideas and transform your BBQ space into a stunning and practical oasis that will surely impress your guests and elevate your outdoor living experience.
